» Crafting Hand Gestures into Digital Text was a master thesis project by Kaz Nakanishi, presented live at the California College of the Arts. This website is a visual documentation of the projects that led to a final presentation.
My thesis observed various quality of hand gestures and crafted their integration with type to explore the modality of text when gestural components are considered. By synthesizing these two elements of communication (hand gestures & type), I wanted to construct a new way of perceiving hand gestures within textual communication.
My intent was to put forth an extensive body of explorative work around the form of textual modalities that integrates variables of hand gestures, and beyond, to demonstrate the potential for this kind of system.
*I want to thank the CCA community, especially my advisors, peers, and family for their support. Now I can go out there and be somebody in the real world.
This website is still a work in progress.
